My first book
A poetry collection titled 'You were today years old when you first learned that Proudly British is an anagram of Horribly Stupid'.
Proudly British is an anagram of horribly stupid. Crazy right?
Upon discovering this linguistic phenomenon in the summer of 2020, I set about journalling my thoughts and feelings on the abstract, intangible notion of Britishness.
This, my first book, was created and shared to be a conversation starter. Like many conversations, it meanders and jumps tangentially between thoughts and stories across various points in time and remains unfinished, waiting to be picked up and explored further as time allows.
With shorter poems drawing from my memories of primary school, and more complex musings on identity and later experiences, this book is a small collection of my earlier writing - highlighting, among other things, a transition from youth and naivety to adulthood through the lens of a young, black British man.
